Jilesh completed his master’s degree in social work at the University of Sussex, Brighton. As a qualified Social Work practitioner Jilesh has over 10 years of experience in frontline practice in Adult Social Care. Jilesh is a qualified Practice Educator and has supervised and supported social work students in their practice placements.
Jilesh’s PhD research is funded by ESRC and focuses on the experience of sourcing care using Direct Payments by Minority Ethnic Communities. It seeks to understand the use of direct payments to manage social care needs and its flexibility and adaptability during life course changes. It aims to explore the factors that act as barriers in the take-up of direct payments and the factors that would boost/enhance the use of direct payments.
