Dr Anna Fielder is a sociologist in the Midwifery Department, Auckland University of Technology, and the book explores the politics of childbirth from a Marxist perspective, situating birth as a crucial site of struggle against capitalism. Dr Chloe Alexander (University of Birmingham) and Dr Grace Whitfield (University of Sheffield), both from the Centre for Care, will act as discussants, and the event will be chaired by Dr Remi Edwards, from SPERI.
