The Centre for Care is committed to contributing to Theory around care research.
Centre for Care colleagues are all social scientists, from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds.
Some mainly do research that employs qualitative methods; others are specialists in advanced
statistical methods and/or have expertise in data science and data linkage.
As part of our capacity building programme we organise Theory Building Workshops for our Centre for Care staff, PhD students and Associates, and occasionally our Advisory Board and Voice Forum (the CfC Voice Forum is a group that is part of the Centre’s overall advisory structure). The aims of the workshops are to:
- Develop new understanding of core concepts
- Identify theoretical and methodological gaps
- Interrogate existing understandings of care to develop new theory that is empirically-
grounded, policy relevant and applicable to all levels of the care ecosystem.
