New Deputy Director

Text: 'News'

In the Summer, Professor Nathan Hughes (University of Sheffield) took up the role of Deputy Director at the Centre for Care.

Read Nathan’s introductory message below:

I am delighted to take up the role of Deputy Director for the Centre for Care. For the last four years I have been head of the Department of Sociological Studies at Sheffield, which has meant I have been frustratingly on the periphery of the Centre, so it is great to now play such a central role in its development. With plans starting to take shape for the next phase of the Centre’s research, it is an exciting time to start. The role of Deputy Director brings particular focus on capacity building, and on impact and knowledge exchange – both of which will take on particular importance as we build towards this next phase.

I am also excited to develop the Centre’s activity around children’s social care, and to work with Keith Clements and colleagues at the National Children’s Bureau to do so. This reflects my own personal research interests in the experience of children with disability, including outcomes in education and in criminal justice.
